Sold Out

This striking and rare North Carolina note was printed by Thomas Davis at Halifax using engraved boarder and vignette cuts. The front of this 10 Shilling bill features bold boarders and sailing ships and the Latin motto “COMMERCIO” (Commerce). The bottom also states “COUNTERFEITERS BEWARE”. The reverse has ornamental boarders and a unique typeset design. This example is labeled as a contemporary counterfeit by PCGS although I am not sure what qualifies it as a counterfeit with little being known about this incredibly rare issue. Gorgeous note with light paper and bold ink. Of the 20,000 originally printed, only 3 are known to exist today.

Signers: Benjamin McCulloch, John Hunt
