This April 23, 1761 4 Shilling note was printed by James Davis. Although higher denomination notes from this series such as the 20s & 30s are relatively common, lower denominations such as this 4 Shilling bill were heavily circulated and are now incredibly scarce. The front features ornamental borders and a typeset design. Very scarce, of the 2,720 originally printed, only 7 examples are known to exist today. Additionally, this PMG 12 is the finest known example graded by PMG, tied for top pop with one other in an equal grade by PCGS. Fantastic value for the rarity and condition. Additionally, this note has a neat backing from a contemporary document.
Signers: John Swann, John Starkey, Samuel Swann, Lewis De Rosset
