North Carolina Colonial Note Fr#NC-145 August 21, 1775 $1/2 PCGS 12 *2 Known*

$0.00
Sold Out

The extremely rare notes of the August 21, 1775 Hillsborough North Carolina issue were printed with engraved copper plates with ornamental boarders and unusual vignettes. The vignette of this $1/2 bill features a drum, cannon, and flags (the right side of the vignette can be made out at the lower left). Of the only 4,000 of these notes originally printed, only 1 other is known to exist today. Additionally, this note was previously a part of the iconic Eric P. Newman Collection. A true rarity, even though it is low grade we are just lucky it survived. This lower grade example presents an opportunity to own an example from this series at an affordable price rather than the 4-5 figures higher grade examples bring.

Signers: Richard Cogdell, Andrew Knox, Samuel Johnston, Richard Caswell
