$0.00
Sold Out

The extremely rare notes of the August 21, 1775 Hillsborough North Carolina issue were printed with engraved copper plates with ornamental boarders and unusual vignettes. The vignette of this $1 bill features Hermes (an Ancient greek deity) holding a banner that ready “12 United Colonies”. The reference to only 12 colonies it due to the fact that Georgia had not yet sent a representative to the Continental Congress. Of the 4,000 $1 bills originally printed, only 2 other examples are known to exist today. Previously a part of the Kimpton Collection. An incredible rarity with decent legibility. A centerpiece note for any North Carolina collection.
