This $1/16 denomination was the lowest denomination of the issue and features an interesting vignette of a Griffin. The vignettes of this issue were engraved in copper plates by Gabriel Lewyn, a goldsmith from Baltimore. Scarce and sought after 1776 note. Of the 13,333 Griffin bills originally printed, only 4 are known to exist today.
