North Carolina Colonial Note Fr#NC-172 August 8, 1778 $1/2 PMG AU-55

$350.00

The bills from the August 8, 1778 North Carolina issue were payable in Spanish milled dollars and printed by James Davis on dark course paper. This $1/2 note bears the motto “Behold! A new World”. There was a shortage of these notes due to a smallpox epidemic at the time. Incredibly low survivability, of the whopping 100,000 $1/2 bills originally printed, only 25 are known to exist today. Tough to find this nice in AU condition with crisp paper.
