The bills from the August 8, 1778 North Carolina issue were payable in Spanish milled dollars and printed by James Davis on dark course paper. This $10 note bears the motto “Persecution the ruin of Empires”. There was a shortage of these notes due to a smallpox epidemic at the time. Lovely VF+ example with ink that pops well deserving of the gold sticker from GCC.
