This neat $500 bill from the May 10, 1780 North Carolina issue was printed on thin paper by James Davis. This bill features ornate borders and a printed back. The latin motto on the lower left reads “DIVITAE REIPUBLICAE DANT MIHI PRETIUM” (The wealth of the republic gives me value). Very scarce note with only 500 originally printed and 17 known to exist today.
