This early 1748 North Carolina note features a relatively minimalistic design with a printed left border and an interesting vignette of a rampant lion. Notes from this issue were printed from engraved copper plates and held the purpose of funding fortifications for the colony and reducing public debts. Only 2,000 of these lion bills were originally printed. Neat early note with many contemporary annotations on the reverse.
