This early 1748 North Carolina note features a relatively minimalistic design with a printed left border and an interesting vignette of a unicorn. Notes from this issue were printed from engraved copper plates and held the purpose of funding fortifications for the colony and reducing public debts. Only 2,000 of these unicorn bills were originally printed. Nice example of this early note for the grade with a full date and many neat contemporary annotations on the reverse.
