This early 1748 North Carolina note features a relatively minimalistic design besides the emblem of Fort Johnson and the Union Jack at the lower left. Notes from this issue were printed from engraved copper plates and held the purpose of funding fortifications for the colony of North Carolina and reducing public debts. Only 2,000 of these early 3 Pound notes were originally printed. This example has many additional signatures and inscriptions on the reverse. Neat and very early piece for the price range.
