The early notes of the March 9, 1754 North Carolina issue had a minimalistic design and various seals. This early 8 Pence note features an incredibly interesting butterfly vignette. Much scarcer than higher denominations in the series. Of the 20,000 originally printed only 7 are known to exist today. These low denominations experienced a lot of handling and faced low survivability. Decent legibility remains on this affordable example.
