Sold Out

The notes of the March 9, 1754 North Carolina issue had a minimalistic design and various seals. This early 2 Shillings, 8 Pence note features a snail vignette. Scarcer than higher denominations in the series. Although rough, of the 11,000 originally printed only 15 are known to exist today. These low denominations experienced a lot of handling and colonists went to great lengths to repair and extend the life of these notes. Interesting contemporary pin repairs and beautifully bold snail vignette remains.
