The notes of the March 9, 1754 North Carolina issue had a minimalistic design and various seals. This early 4 Shilling note features a monogram vignette. Low denominations, such as this are generally significantly scarcer than higher denominations in the series. Although low grade, of the 10,000 4 Shilling monograms originally printed, 28 are known to survive today. These low denominations experienced a ton of handling and colonists went to great lengths to repair and extend the life of these notes. Previously a part of the Kimpton Collection. Scarce early note at an affordable price.
