This early half note was printed by Benjamin Franklin and David Hall. On the reverse, “Printed by B. FRANKLIN” can be very clearly read across the bottom. This April 25, 1759 issue is generally more scarce than most other Franklin issues. This 20 Shilling note has 20 examples that are known to survive today. Additionally, this note bears the signature of Charles Thomson. He was a distinguished American patriot who served as the secretary of the Continental Congress and was the co-designer of the “Great Seal of the United States”. Neat piece for the price with a famous signature and Franklin’s name clear.
