The notes of the March 10, 1769 issue are known as “Bettering House Money” authorized by the February 18, 1769 Act for relief and employment of the poor in Philadelphia. The 4 highest denominations of the issue (including this 15 Shilling bill) have nature print reverse rather than blank. “To Counterfeit is Death” can also be seen on the reverse. Printed by Hall and Sellers. Lovely VF example of this issue usually seen tattered. Incredibly rare, of 1,000 originally printed, only 8 are known to exist today.
Signers: Luke Morris, Stephen Collins, James Penrose
