Pennsylvania Colonial Note Fr#PA-168 October 1, 1773 15 Shillings PMG 63 *Stunning*
The bills of the October 1, 1773 issue had the purpose of reviving the Loan Office system. Printed by Hall and Sellers with a cast cut farm scene on the reverse and printed in red and black ink. There are 3 crowns above the state arms denoting the value (5 Shillings per crown). There is redish orange ink that is impressed onto the reverse in the typeset and across the denomination. It is likely that a paper mache stencil was used to overlay the red ink. Gorgeous example with crisp paper and bold ink, especially on the reverse. Hard to find this nice.
Signers: Alexander Tod, James Hartley, Joseph Mifflin
