The purpose of this late April 20, 1781 issue was to support the Army and replace depreciated pervious issues. The dots that encircle the emblem denote the denomination of this note (2 dots, each representing 3 Pence). This note was printed by John Dunlap on paper that is watermarked “PENNSYLVANIA” in 2 lines. The reverse has a type-set design and “To Counterfeit is Death”. Lovely uncirculated example with crisp paper and attractive ink. Relatively scarce note, of the 20,000 originally printed only 47 exist today.
