The Bank of North America small change bills were issued for the purpose of convenience for the public during the suspension of circulation of copper coinage. This issue was printed on paper that was exported from Paris by Benjamin Franklin while he was serving as a diplomatic minister overseas. These bills were incredibly difficult to counterfeit due to the specificity and scarcity of this French paper. The printed signature of cashier Tench Francis can be seen at the bottom of the front along with an overall type-set design. The reverse features an elaborate ornamental design. This bill was printed by Benjamin Franklin’s grandson, Benjamin Franklin Bache. “Printed by B. F. Bache” can be seen along the top of the reverse. Very neat bill for the price and not easy to find.
