This very early 1756 Pennsylvania note was printed by Benjamin Franklin and David Hall. On the front, the Pennsylvania Arms can be seen along with 4 crowns representing the value of this note (1 crown for every 5 Shillings) with pillared borders. “Printed by B. Franklin” remains exceptionally bold along the bottom of the reverse along with nature print and “To Counterfeit is DEATH”. Seldom seen 1756 note, of the 15,000 originally printed, only 16 are known to survive today. That is nearly 1/1000 of the original print run by Franklin. Incredibly difficult to find with such bold ink and strong legibility on the signatures and Franklin’s name. A must have type for any colonial collector.
