Very early January 1, 1756 Pennsylvania half note was printed by Benjamin Franklin and David Hall. The primary purpose of issuing these bills was to support military efforts in the French and Indian War. The bottom half of the Pennsylvania Arms can be seen on the front and half of the nature print can be seen on the reverse. Despite being a half note, “Printed by B. Franklin” wonderfully preserved across the bottom of the reverse. Only 15 examples are known to exist today.
