Rhode Island Colonial Note Fr#RI-209 November 6, 1775 9d PCGS F-12 *12 Known*

$335.00

The November 6, 1775 Rhode Island issue was printed on thin paper by John Carter. This note has a minimalistic typeset design with an emblem of an anchor encircled by the Latin motto “IN TE DOMINE SPERAMUS” (In you, Lord, we trust). This issue is generally scarce in every denomination. Lower denominations, such as this note, were printed with a blank back. Only 12 examples of this 9 Pence note are known to exist today, likely due to heavy circulation being a low denomination and thin fragile paper resulting in low survivability. Very nice example compared to usually seen with bold ink and strong signatures.

Signers: John G. Wanton, John Cole
