Rhode Island Colonial Note Fr#RI-212 November 6, 1775 3s PMG 25 *11 Known*

$565.00

The November 6, 1775 Rhode Island issue was printed on thin paper by John Carter. This note has a minimalistic typeset design with an emblem of an anchor encircled by the latin motto “IN TE DOMINE SPERAMUS” (In you, Lord, we trust). There is also a neat fish on the boarder above the serial number. This issue is generally scarce in every denomination. Lower denominations, such as this note were printed with a blank back. Only 11 examples of this 3 Shilling note are known to exist today. Incredibly difficult to find this nice and with such eye appeal. Newman’s 5th edition lists this note for $2250 in VF.

Signers: John Cole, John G Wanton
