This 1786 late issue Rhode Island uncut pair was printed by Southwick & Barber and features a typeset design with an elaborate boarder and the Rhode Island State Arms on the left center. Lower denominations such as these 9 Pence and 2 Shillings, 6 Pence notes have a blank back. This issue was riddled with depreciation, by 1789 these notes only carried 10% of their original value. Consequently, over 96% of this issue was burned by the state between 1793 and 1803. This high grade pair has fantastic eye appeal with crisp paper and nice embossing.
