Rhode Island Colonial Note Fr#RI-292/290 May, 1786 1s-6d PMG 30 *Uncut Pair*
This 1786 late issue Rhode Island uncut pair was printed by Southwick & Barber and features a typeset design with an elaborate border and the Rhode Island State Arms on the left center. Lower denominations such as these 6 Pence and 1 Shilling notes were printed with a blank back. This issue was riddled with depreciation, by 1789 these notes only carried 10% of their original value. Consequently, over 96% of this issue was burned by the state between 1793 and 1803. This uncut pair is a very neat piece for the price with attractive paper and bold ink. Very scarce in this uncut state.
