South Carolina Colonial Note Fr#SC-142 December 23, 1776 $20 PMG 20 *11 Known*

$0.00
Sold Out

This very scarce South Carolina note was printed by Peter Timothy in Charleston on thick paper. The emblems and boarders were engraved in wood. This $20 note features an emblem of a bull encircled by the bold latin motto “AUT MORS AUT VICTORIA” (Either death or victory). The $20 note is the highest denomination of this issue and it is significantly more rare with only 11 survivors out of the 2,000 originally printed. This example is also fully signed and serial numbered. There is an interesting “obstructed printing error” and Midnight Ride Collection pedigree. Superior eye appeal for the grade.

Signers: Edward Lightwood, James Fisher, Edward Blake, William Price
