This February 8, 1779 $40 note was elaborately engraved by Thomas Coram of Charleston and was the smallest denomination of the series. On the front, Ceres and the Latin motto “MINIME VIOLANDA FIDES” (Trust by no means is to be violated) can be seen on the bottom left. The reverse of this note features an incredible vignette of an Angel blowing a trumpet holding a book titled “ANNALS OF AMERICA”. Gorgeous note in choice uncirculated condition with strong black ink, light & bright paper, and striking eye appeal. Exceptional GEM margins and eye appeal for the grade. Trophy note worthy of the advanced collector.
