This February 8, 1779 $80 note was elaborately engraved by Thomas Coram of Charleston. On the front, a figure and the latin motto “CONSTANTIA DURISSIMA VINCIT” (The firmest consistency will concur) can be seen on the bottom left in bold ink. The reverse of this note features a beautiful engraving of a shield and liberty cap. Nice signatures on the front with bold ink and attractive eye appeal throughout for a VF note. Of the 4,000 originally printed only 30 are known to exist today.
