This February 8, 1779 $80 South Carolina note was elaborately engraved by Thomas Coram of Charleston. On the front, a sword bearing figure and the latin motto “CONSTANTIA DURISSIMA VINCIT” (The firmest consistency will concur) can be seen on the bottom left in bold ink. The reverse of this note features a beautiful engraving of a shield and liberty cap. Elite example with bright, strong paper and bold ink/signatures. Very difficult to find this nice and well deserving of the EPQ designation from PMG. Of the 4,000 originally printed only 31 are known to exist today.
