This February 8, 1779 $80 South Carolina note was elaborately engraved by Thomas Coram of Charleston. On the front, a sword bearing figure and the latin motto “CONSTANTIA DURISSIMA VINCIT” (The firmest consistency will concur) can be seen on the bottom left in bold ink. The reverse of this note features a beautiful engraving of a shield and liberty cap. Solid example for the price with clean light paper and bold ink. Very scarce, of the 4,000 originally printed only 32 are known to exist today.
