South Carolina Colonial Note Fr#SC-158 February 8, 1779 $90 PCGS 45 *Hercules & Lion*

$1,250.00

This February 8, 1779 $90 note was elaborately engraved by Thomas Coram of Charleston. On the front, a soldier and the Latin motto “ARMISA CONCURRITE CAMPO” (Assemble the field of arms) can be seen on the bottom left. The reverse of this note features an incredible classical design of Hercules strangling a lion. Beautiful XF+ example with attractive paper and ink. Wholesome example with only a small tear at the bottom center that is only noticeable when held up to light. Lovely example at a more affordable price than AU+ notes while still providing high eye appeal.

*Note: The PCGS label is not in perfect condition as seen in the scans.

Signers: John Smyth, John Scott, Theodore Gaillard Jr.
