The October 7, 1776 Virginia issue features intricately engraved borders that have the denomination of the note embedded within. These borders were engraved by Robert Scot. The Virginia state arms can be seen at the left with the denomination and “DEATH TO COUNTERFEIT” beneath. Printed by Alexander Purdie on thick rag paper containing mica flake and blue thread. Affordable example of this desirable 1776 note and relatively scarce with only 19 known to exist today.
